I could feel the love they had for each other. Not all of them were geeky but they all participated in being geeky even if it wasn’t their thing. And the geekiness that permeated through them. They support each other and don’t leave each other out for themselves. I absolutely LOVED the focus of queer family. She made her whole world out to be just Ryn. Or more, Kiara got herself way too consumed and caught up in Ryn as Ryn was able to manage to continue to be productive and continue her career where Kiara wasn’t. Like they got too caught up in each other. I also couldn’t really get behind Ryn and Kiara’s relationship as their first go around with their relationship felt kind of toxic in the it was all consuming way. For someone who is suppose to be a partner of a genderqueer person and supposedly understanding of said genderqueer person I would expect them to use pronouns and refer to their partner as more than just “she”. Now that that’s all said, one of the things that niggled at me was Taryn. She is not your average female character, because she doesn't bend to conform, and maybe this is the kind of character we desperately need right now-a model that being ourselves, trusting our instincts and following our values, is probably the most heroic thing we can doĭisclaimer: I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review. I instantly loved her in spite (or maybe because) of her grumpiness and her layers and layers of armor. Kiara, who we just got a glance of in The Better To Kiss You With, takes the spotlight as this badass, grumpy, pocket sized Alpha whose stature is larger than life. Think more of a Back to The Future 2 compared to the first one. This time around, the feelings are the same-lovable yet rlawed characters, a pace reminiscent of a well directed movie and Vancouver in the background- but the tone is different, slightly darker but not overwhelmingly so.

Cliché, uncliché, lone wolf and running in packs, teenagers on TV and grown women in pages-werewolves are among my favorite legendary creatures.īack when the first book of this series came out, I was instantly swept away by Michelle Osgood's way with words, painting vivid scenes and deep emotions.
